Title: Checking the OEO Against the OBO Foundry Principles

Abstract:

The development team of the Open Energy Ontology (OEO) is frequently approached to extend the OEO with concepts, that more or less exceed the domain of energy system analysis. This indicates that demand for ontologies in energy-related domains is emerging, as is the need for interoperable research infrastructure. In other research areas, like biology, chemistry or medicine, ontologies are already well-established tools. To harmonize biological and biomedical ontology development and make ontologies compatible and interoperable, OBO foundry was initiated. To build on OBO's experiences and learn from it for the energy domains, the OBO principles are reviewed and the Open Energy Ontology is checked against these principles, by means of the OBO dashboard.
